Face The Rain by Jennifer DeNaughel Book review This wonderful novel is a real page turner. It offers everything a reader could wish for: There is romance, suspense and crime, birth and death but most of all it emphasizes the powerful magic of unconditional love and forgiveness. It is the kind of book you want to curl up with on your couch in front of a fire. While getting lost in the story, it seems you can almost hear the sound of the ocean which is an important element in this story.. This book captures the reader´s attention until the very end. I can highly recommend it.

Just want to share my take on the book Face The Rain , the scenic effects are what will make me pick this book up again and again . And the writer's gift of giving the character's a three dimensional clarity and originality . I know the reader will be able to relate on a personal level to experiences they have had . I would really love to see this story done as a LIFETIME MOVIE ! I will be looking for it . thank-you Janelle Kwiatkowski

Face the Rain, by Jennifer DeNaughel “We the jury, find the defendant, guilty on all charges.” “Guilty...” Just one simple word, but it was the word Jenna had been praying to hear. The moment the jury foreman uttered it the air rushed from her lungs and she felt a suffocating pressure lift from her chest leaning forward, she lowered her head and covering her face with her hands, allowed herself to cry for the first time since that night. That night was the night her husband tried to kill her. As Jenna was leaving the court house her concerns were getting to the "safe house" and getting her daughter Kylie and son Erik. Then heading up to the Oregon coast to the home she grew up in. A home her children could finally feel safe in. She knew she would have to face some things she had left unfinished when she left there many years ago. Things that would change her son's life forever. Plus the one man she had never stopped loving. The characters are well thought out and the story line compelling. I have read this book twice now and both times it captured my attention and held my interest. It is the type of book you can read over and over. I would rate this book: PG 13 Sandra Heptinstall Posted by Whispering Winds Book Reviews

Face The Rain by Jennifer DeNaughel, is a compelling story of a woman's journey to start a new life by going home to the town she left behind some thirteen years earlier. She wants to reacquiant herself with an old boyfriend but is afraid of what his reaction will be as he meets his son, who is near 13. Though, her nightmare life that she is leaving behind her, that of an abusive first marriage, does not stay gone for long. She finds her old boyfriend readily accepts her and his son and is eager to be a better father to her daughter by her first husband. This was my first romance novel that I read. Jennifer DeNaughel is a good writer, and story teller. Her use of sounds and smells made me feel like I was right there on the Oregon Coast with her characters and yearn for that life, too. I loved your book. Thank you very much for the chance to read it. Some notes: I like the setting very much. You obviously know the area very well. This is important. If you have the chance to set other books in this area, I think you should. Just like Nickolas Sparks sets his books in North Carolina. You could own the West, while he does the East, lol. I had a few minor issues, but then I think some of it is a cultural thing. I noticed when I was in USA, that Americans in general are rather different than Australians. They tend to get into a lot of trouble with relationships because of reacting first, thinking second. And getting married so young is not uncommon there. Well done, and good luck in the future. I believe you definitely have a future as a writer. Your characters are great. Have a lovely day. Thanks again. Steve.

Oh my Goodness!!! Jennifer! What a great book! This was such an awesome read. Looked great when I downloaded it on my nook. I couldn't wait to get time to sit and read. As soon as I would come home from work I'd read more. Dreamed about Ian in my sleep. What great detail about the Oregan coast. You sure do know your stuff. Let me know when the next one comes out!!!!

This book just took me away, back to Bandon by the Sea, (just over the hill from me)! It is worthy of being a Harlequin Romance novel for sure!

Face the Rain by Jennifer DeNaughel is a romantic /thriller that reads extremely well from the get go. Jenna and her two children move to her hometown to start a new life after years of abuse by her ex-husband. Her son, Erik, hopes to meet his biological father, Ian, who is Jenna’s high school sweetheart. Will the love that Jenna and Ian had in high school be rekindled after all this time? Will the ex-husband come back to get his revenge? I read many books and this one really tugged at the heart strings. It really has the right combination of romance/thriller to me. The characters have enough background and the dialogue between them was perfect. I could not put this book down at all. Ms. DeNaughel has written a winner and I hope that all women that love romance will read this one. They will not be disappointed at all. 5 bookmarks Carol A. Langstroth, Manager Mind Fog Reviews

This book is a great page turner and so realistic you would almost swear it was real. Such a great thing to see that we all make decisions that affect us for life, but that we can "fix" them sometimes too. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

This was a great read. It is a perfect combination of escape, relationships, and suspense. It held my attention from beginning to end and kept me wanting to turn the page and read some more. I live in Bandon and it was an extra treat to be able to clearly visualize the scenery and settings. I read at least one book a week and this rates way up there.

I was fortunate to meet the author in her beloved Oregon. When I told her how much I liked to read she gave me her book free of charge. Like the other reviewer I couldn't put the book down and finished it in two days. I would compare this book to the novels of my other favorite writer Luanne Rice.

Being an avid reader of Tom Clancy, Vince Flynn, David Baldacci, etc, I wasn't sure about this book. Wrong! I found it to be a very pleasant change of pace and as another reviewer said " finished it in two days". Jennifer has captured the essence of the blustery seaside town of Bandon perfectly, weaving it well into her charming narrative. A riveting tale with a happy ending, I couldn't ask for anything more.

This book was wonderful. I would definatley recommend it to any adult. It grabbed me in the beginning, and I couldn't put it down. I read it in 2 days! The story line is one that many people can relate to in some way or another. I began comparing happenings in the book to my life, and the story was so detailed it was like I was a character in the book; one of the onlooking neighbors who just happens to always be the background. Great book!! Still after two weeks of finishing, I'm still thinking about it! Don't miss out on this one. I can't wait for another by this author!

I found I really cared what happened to Jenna and Ian and their families. They are wonderful people that you want to sort things out and build happy lives. I would love to live in Brandon! (I don't give five stars often....)

The story begins with what seems to be the start of a new life for Jenna. Things aren't that simple though; as you learn about her past along with the progression of Jenna's current life, you will be captured by this intriging and absorbing story. With good pacing and characters the reader can feel for, you won't want to put this book down!

I had been wanting to purchase the Face The Rain novel for months. I even went to Bandon during those months, but always got there when the shops were closed and my traveling companions had other plans. So one day, my daughter and I went to Bandon. I had saved up for this moment. I went into the Big Wheel General Store and walked over to the books on the racks. I hoped one was still there. Sure enough, there was! I purchased it! I could not wait to start reading. I dived into the pages, and was captivated right at the start. I was transported into the character's lives. Each character was so very interesting. I liked how there were multiple story lines that kept me guessing. I did not want to put it down. When I had to, it was the first thing I wanted to get back to. The book had my heart racing at the dangerous moments, my tears falling during the sad times, my curiosity during the moments that had me guessing what would happen next, and yes, it had me blushing through the intimate moments. But, a love like theirs, was meant to be. It had me hoping for the characters, all of them, even the children. The book had me somehow right in the story line. I was a participant. I loved how all of the character and places in Bandon helped me to imagine the story as a reality, as if it was happening and I was right there. Jennifer, you are a fantastic author, and I count it an honor to have read such a book. I plan to re-read it often. Your account of survivors in this book is compelling. You give the events of domestic violence, child abuse, and sexual assault the platform to educate your readers as well as empower them. I encourage others to read this book!!! Thank you so much!!! p.s. I know what I am giving for Christmas Gifts!!! :D

Face the Rain is not a typical read for me. Romances are not my style - I much prefer a good drama, perhaps with a little suspense thrown in or a puzzle to figure out. Fortunately, Face the Rain is all that, too! This book was not only a good "easy" summer read, it was one of those novels you don't want to put down, especially when you get about 2/3 of the way through. I admit, I stayed up WAY too late on a weeknight to finish this one. Even more incredible, to me, is that this is a first novel. The characters are wonderful and very well-developed, and despite my not believing in the whole "soul-mates destined to be together" stuff, it wasn't overdone, and I genuinely wanted these characters to be happy and to live the lives they wanted. The dialogue was believable, and the story flowed very naturally. I would definitely recommend this book, and look forward to seeing more from Jennifer DeNaughel in the future!

I loved this book from page one! The author (who I've had the pleasure to meet and get a signed copy of Face The Rain), does a wonderful job of transporting you from Washington State, south to Oregon on highway 101. As you read you get a visual of the sights that are not fiction but really places and landmarks along the way as you head towards Bandon, Oregon. I was instantly pulled into the story of Jenna, her children and Ian...along with the many other characters in the story. The intrigue, romance, steamy love scenes, and mystery that all unfolds very quickly, makes this not only a fast read, but, I didn't want to put it down! I also didn't want the story to end....fortunately, Jennifer has written this book in a way that will allow a sequel...hint hint! Hopefully, the story of Jenna and Ian will continue where Face The Rain left us at the end :) Excellent job on this book Jennifer and I can't wait for your next book! Sharon "Bandon or Bust!"

Face the Rain By Jennifer DeNaughel I thoroughly enjoyed Jennifer DeNaughel’s first novel, Face the Rain. Set in Bandon, Oregon, it offers suspense, longing and romance in a beautiful Oregon Coast setting. Jenna Chandler flees her Seattle home following the incarceration of her abusive husband, Lyle. Memories and the fear that he may some way find freedom torment her and she loads her two children and a few belongings into the car and heads south, back to the home of her childhood, back to a beach house in Bandon and the loving friends of her youth. Filled with tumultuous feelings of hope and despair crashing as waves on the storm drenched shore, Jenna tries to make a better life for her children. She introduces her son, Erik, to his father Ian and watches with pleasure as their relationship grows. Jennifer DeNaughel weaves her story, Face the Rain, into a tapestry of picturesque Bandon, the rugged Oregon Coast, fear and suspenseful plot twists. This is a great read.
